… as a result of the concessions of the Polish crown which began with the Statute of Kalisz, Poland became known throughout Europe as the “paradisus Judeorum,” the paradise of the Jews. When persecutions would flare up in the traditionally Jewish sections of Europe, in the German principalities, particularly in the urban centers of the Rhein valley, as they frequently did throughout the middle ages, the Jews who wished to escape persecution inevitably headed east toward Poland, taking their language, “juedische Deutsch,” or Yiddish with them. …Jews did not assimilate in Poland; most of them did not learn the language of the Christian Poles, because, other than rudimentary commerce and illicit sexual activity, the Jews had virtually no contact with the Poles even though they had lived in their country for centuries. The Jews established their own state within a state there; they established their own legal system and courts there as well, and, if demographic evidence is conclusive in matters like this, the Polish paradise was the most successful modus vivendi Jews ever found in the West. …
In 1633, the Sejm [lower house of the Polish parliament] passed a law forbidding Poland’s nobility from selling liquor or engaging in commercial activities. The Polish noble citizens—both the wealthy and the impoverished—, in other words, retained political control of the country, but lost economic control because they were forbidden to engage in commercial activity. Because the Polish magnates owned the land but were unable to engage in commerce, they were forced to hand over the job of income extraction to the nation’s Jews, who would pay a set fee for a lease to raise the money the nobles needed. The system of pre-paid, short-term leases was known in Poland as “arenda.” The connection between the arenda system of tax-farming and the Jews was so intimate that it eventually found expression in the Polish language. In legal contracts in the 17th and 18th century, the Polish word “arendarz” or tax-farmer and “Jew” are synonymous. According to Pogonowski, “15 percent of urban and 80 percent of rural Jewish heads of households were occupied within the arenda system.”
The Jewish legal system, or kahal, brokered these licenses to well-to-do Jews, who in turn often subleased them to less well-to-do relatives. In Polish private law, arenda was defined as “the leasing of immovable property or rights. The subject of the lease might be a whole territory, held either in ownership or in pledge [or] the subject might be a tavern, mill or the right to collect various payments such as a bridge toll or a payment connected with a jurisdiction.” A Jew, for example, might take out a short-term lease on a church, in defiance of church law. This meant that he was in sole possession of the key to the church door, which could only be opened for the performance of weddings or baptisms after payment of a fee, a practice which naturally led to resentment among Christians. Since the lease was of necessity a short-term lease, it was in the Jew’s interest to charge as much money as he could to make back his investment and some profit, since the lease might not be renewed. Or, if it were, someone else might outbid him for it. There was, in other words, no financial incentive to create good will among the local population from which the arendator earned his living. The Jewish tax-farmers had the support of the state—Pogonowski estimates that 20 to 70 percent of the income of the large estates was generated by tax-farming leases held by Jews— but lacked the good will of the community which was the source of that livelihood. Since the Jew was not a part of that community, and in fact had developed, as Graetz indicates, a whole culture of treating the goyim with contempt, he could exploit the situation well beyond what would have been considered tolerable had Catholic Poles been running the system:

Arenda-type short -term leases resulted in intensive exploitation of the leased estates, as the lessees tended to overwork the land, peasants and equipment without worrying about long-term effects. The peasants experienced additional hardships when Jewish arrendators obtained the right to collect and even impose taxes and fees for church services. The peasants and Cossacks in Kresy [the newly colonized lands of the east] bitterly resented having to pay Jews for the use of Eastern Orthodox and Greek-catholic churches for funerals, baptism, weddings and other similar occasions (Iwo Cyprian Pogonowski, Jews in Poland: A Documentary History The Rise of Jews as a Nation from Congressus Judaicus in Poland to the Knesset in Israel [New York: Hippocrene Books, Inc.1993], p. 68).
Because of the arenda system and the prohibition against distilling spirits which became legally binding in 1633, the Jews assumed total control of the liquor business, which meant that, on the one hand, they could manipulate the price of grain by diverting it to more profitable use as distilled spirits and that, on the other hand, it was in their interest to engage in the intense promotion of alcohol consumption, to maximize profits during the short-term of the lease. This led to chronic drunkenness, decreased productivity, and, of course, increased resentment against Jews, as a group which was perceived as constantly seeking to exploit the weaknesses of the majority population as a way of enhancing their own wealth and power. …

I recently had the good fortune to read William Hagen’s Cambridge-published Anti-Jewish Violence in Poland, 1914–1920, one of the most interesting books I’ve read on Jewish-European relations since John Doyle Klier’s Oxford-published work on the Tsarist pogroms. It’s always refreshing to see scholars of European heritage tackle this subject matter, which has been dominated for too long by Jewish academics offering a one-sided, lachrymose, and propaganda-laden approach. Now eighty years old, Hagen, like Klier before him, has started publishing his most incisive work on the Jews only in the deep twilight of his career. Also echoing Klier’s work on the pogroms, Hagen’s Anti-Jewish Violence in Poland offers an unflinching look at the causes of inter-ethnic friction, often using novel or previously ignored source material, as well as a balanced and careful approach to the true extent of any violence that occurred. The result is a text that doesn’t just attempt to get to the bottom of what exactly happened, but also why it happened. The following essay is a hybrid work involving a partial review of Hagen’s work and some of my own thoughts and research on the subject.…

Hagen’s Anti-Jewish Violence in Poland opens by giving voice to some fascinating Polish contemporaries, opening up an avenue of discussion often closed off in lachrymose Jewish histories which overwhelmingly focus on the putative suffering of the Jews rather than the difficult experiences of those they lived among. One of the more interesting examples is Hagen’s exploration of the works of Jan Słomka, Habsburg Polish mayor of Dzików and author of From Serfdom to Self-Government: Memoirs of a Polish Village Mayor. Słomka’s memoirs offer insight in the origins of Polish antipathy towards the Jews, and depict Jews as “cynical exploiters of Christian villagers’ weaknesses and ignorance.” (The Jews in Poland: Official Reports of the American and British Investigating Missions · Volume 1, National Polish Committee of America, 1920, 18.) Mimicking tactics employed under the Russian tavern system, Jewish merchants in Poland often used alcohol to drag peasants into debt and keep them there. Słomka explained how Jews:

WARSAW, Poland — The Prosecutor’s Office in Bialystok has ended an investigation of a Polish priest who spoke of Jews being a “cancer” during a sermon, determining that no hate crime had been committed.
In a sermon on April 16 in Bialystok, Father Jacek Miedlar spoke of the “cancer which swept Poland,” apparently meaning Jews. He stressed that political correctness and tolerance enslave Poles.
According to the prosecutor, Miedlar “referred to the historical content and the Bible, pointing to examples of negative behavior of the representatives of the Jewish community from the time of slavery in Egypt, and generally referring to modern times.” The speech did not stigmatize a particular nationality, the prosecutor said Tuesday.
On the same day Miedlar, a known nationalist, wrote in response to the decision on Twitter: “Bialystok investigation discontinued! Zero tolerance for ‘Jewish cowardice’. Salut!”…

Jacek Miedlar is from Wroclaw in West Poland and has been suspended by his local Catholic church [Novus Ordo synagogue] for his firebrand speeches that mix ultra-nationalism with religious fervour. It’s been finally revealed that these two guys interrogating Miedlar were from Jewish Special Branch in England and Lucy Allan apparently requested Miedlar’s invigilation at the airport. UK Airport Border Security officials were in fact surprised at the act. Miedlar was interrogated for several hours and his luggage was searched. The Jewish agents found t-shirts with prints of patriotic Polish symbols, which by the agents opinion is considered as hate speech and Polish national colours as racism ( ?! ).
At the airport Międlar has received a document stating that he had no special visa and his entry was denied.
In European Union no visa is needed to entry the islands – just an ID card, as in other Schengen states, which Międlar had.
Clearly, Miedlar was stopped by zionist agency and viciously discriminated against !

“After 3-4 hours of interrogation, search, copying of personal notes and documents, as well as mockery of Polish nation, polish national symbols and Christianity, the Jewish agents with British passports handed me back to the Border Security officers, headed by David Clark, who also interviewed me.
As it turned out David Clarke is an advocate for homosexuality. He persistently ask my opinion about this particular issue. Then I was told, that I can say goodbye to the possibility of entering UK, because “they do not like my character.”

Jacek Miedlar while still in priesthood affirmed that the Catholics of Poland will not “fight with the hammer of hatred, which [the liberals] try to press into our hands.
“We will fight with the sword of truth, the sword of love and the sword of the Gospel Who is Jesus Christ, the Living Lord and Savior.”
“We do not want any violence in Poland,” he affirmed.
“We do not want the aggression in the name of Allah. No rapes! No lynches! No terror!”
Following chanting from the crowd of “God! Honor! Homeland!” Fr. Miedlar instructed the youthful audience that they are “the future of the Church” and the “future of the nation” and urged them to build “Catholic Poland on the foundation of truth and love, Who is no less than Jesus Christ.”
He instructed the audience to pray to “Our Lady, to [their] only Queen, St. Mary the Queen of Poland” who would save them “from the Islamic invasion.”

European Parliament President Jerzy Bozek hosted a reception in honor of the Jewish New Year in the Parliament building in Brussels. The ceremony was organized by the European Jewish Union (EJU), the European Community Jewish Center (EJCC) and the European Center for Jewish Public Affairs (EJPA).
During the event, the President of the European Parliament, a gold-plated shofar, was presented by the Chief Envoy to Italy, Rabbi Gershon Mendel Gorlik, the Director General of the European Union, Tomer Orni, Vice President Vadim Rabinovich, and the moderator, Rabbi Levy Matosov.
They told him that “Europe's sound should be heard loud and clear,” and the president decided to try to blow the shofar in front of a crowd of 600 people, including 50 MPs and diplomats from 16 countries.
The sound of the shofar was later heard by Rabbi Avi Tawil, co-director of the Center for the European Jewish Community.
During the event, it was announced that elections will be held in October for the European Jewish Parliament, a body democratically elected as the Jewish representative in Europe, as well as the launch of “One New Jew,” a 24-hour satellite TV channel around the world.
